Author Name: Dorota Gołek‑Sepetliewa, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, dorota.golek-sepetliewa@us.edu.pl. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 15-24. Ключови думи: Калин Терзийски, Георги Тенев, Захари Карабашлиев, българска литература в Полша. Key words: Kalin Terziyski, Georgi Tenev, Zachary Karabashliev, Bulgarian literature in Poland.
Summary: The article comments on the presence of Bulgarian literature in Poland in 2015 from the perspective of genre forms, conventions, stylistic devices, and topics. In the abovementioned year, translations (by Hanna Karpinska) of the following works were published: Kalin Terziyski’s collection of short stories Is there anybody to love you?, Zachary Karabashliev’s road novel 18% gray, and Georgi Tenev’s crime drama The Evil Prince. The writers created texts that elicit strong emotions, based on realistic convention, in a simplified, accessible style. Terziyski and Karabashliev created a reality recognized by the reader, in which at the forefront there is the present social and cultural situation along with the problems of modern man (the breakdown of interpersonal relationships, as well as feelings of dissatisfaction, loneliness, and misery, accompanied by the desire for true love, devotion, and dedication). Tenev presents a crime drama based on the current elements of the political and social life, thereby exposing corrupt and criminal practices.

Petra Gverić Katana: Twenty five years of translation: a cultural mirror of Croatian and Polish literature / O dwudziestu pięciu latach przekładów literatury polskiej i chorwackiej — zwierciadła przekładu (tłum. Antonina Kurtok) Download Rozwiń
Translated Title: O dwudziestu pięciu latach przekładów literatury polskiej i chorwackiej — zwierciadła przekładu / Dvadeset pet godina bilježenja prijevoda: hrvatsko i poljsko ogledalo. Author Name: Petra Gverić Katana, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, petra.gveric@gmail.com. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 35-52/53-72. Ključne riječi: egzilna književnost, recepcija, hrvatski prijevodi, poljski prijevodi, prevoditeljski izbori. Key words: literature of exile, reception, Croatian translations, Polish translations, translation choices.
Hrvatska književnost — i kultura — u Poljskoj često stoga nose ponajprije odrednicu „balkanskog“ i „postjugoslavenskog“. S druge strane, poljska književnost u hrvatskim prijevodima uglavnom se predstavlja reprezentativnim autorima, čiji se opus smatra kanonskim i u izvornoj kulturi. Ogledanje jedne kulture u drugoj donosi širu sliku predstavljanja Drugoga i otvara problem odnosa kulturne auto – i heteropredodžbe.
Summary: In this article, we have tried to draw an image of Croatian literature in Polish culture, as well as vice versa, in the last 25 years, based on bibliographies and articles on translations in PLS. It has been concluded that, due to translators’ choices of Croatian exile literature, works perceived in the source culture as non -canon, themes related to war, Yugonostalgia and authors whose work belong to the “borderline” of a few nations, Croatian literature in Poland exists as “Balkan” literature. On the other hand, choices of Polish literature in Croatia mainly concerns classic Polish authors. Both cases draw a wider picture of national imagery — a hetero -image – in the target culture.

Author Name: Zofia Dembowska, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, zofia.dembowska@gmail.com. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 97-104. Key words: Polish-Macedonian translations, Macedonian-Polish translations, translation commentary, Polish literature, Macedonian literature.
Резиме: Во овој коментар се разработуваат причините и мотивациите за изборот на делата, при што се дава краток осврт на стилот застапен во тие дела, како и на допирните точки со македонската литература. Даден е и опис на работата на издавачките куќи кои се решаваат да издадат дела од полската литература. Проблемите во преведувањето произлегуваат од културните разлики, а резултатот е слика на современото полско општество во кое има доволно критична мисла, но и вплетена историја како надоврзување на традицијата.
Summary: This commentary conserns the reasons and motivation for choosing particular novels to be translated into Macedonian. A short review of their style is given, as well as the common ground with the Macedonian literature. We describe the way of the working of the publishing houses which have decided to publish Polish literature. Problems in translation turn out to be of a cultural nature, concerning the differences and, as a result, the reader is presented with the picture of contemporary Polish society, which is overwhelmed by critical thinking, but still deals with the history as a way to further develop the tradition.

Author Name: Estera Sobalkowska, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, estasoba@gmail.com. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 115-149. Кључне речи: пољска књижевност, српска књижевност, поезија, стрип, превод, публикације. Key words: Polish literature, Serbian literature, poetry, book publications, comic, translation.
Summary: The text analyses the issue of Polish literature in Serbia and Serbian literature in Poland. Most of the translations that appeared in Serbia in 2015 were reprints of previous editions or new, contemporized translations of works already known in the Serbian publishing market. The year 2015 saw 23 book publications (without any volume of poetry) and 17 poems in various magazines. Serbian literature was poorly represented in the discussed time — only two comics, two anthologies of poetry and 23 poems were published. Consequently, there was not a single prose publication. This is a tendency, as in 2014, not a single translation of Serbian prose in Polish publishing market appeared.

Key words: Slovak literature, Slovak literature in Poland, translation, literary translation, Pavol Rankov, Peter Krištúfek, Maroš Krajňak, Jana Beňova, Radovan Brenkus, Pavol Hudák.
Resumé: Autor článku skúma najnovšie preklady slovenskej literatúry v Poľsku v roku 2015. Medzi veľmi dobrých a známych slovenských autorov, ktorých preklady boli nedávno publikované, patria súčasní a moderní predstavitelia mladej generácie (Pavol Rankov, Peter Krištúfek, Maroš Krajňak, Jana Beňová) a staršej generácie (Pavel Vilikovský, Daniela Kapitáňová). Ich knihy boli veľmi dobre prijaté poľskými príjemcami a to vedie k tomu, že slovenská literatúra v Poľsku je čítaná s rastúcim záujmom. Tento článok berie do úvahy aj poľské preklady slovenskej poézie. Z prieskumu vyplýva neustále znižovanie počtu prekladov tohto druhu literatúry. V roku 2015 boli publikované len tri malé antológie poézie. Týmto spôsobom slovenskú poéziu zastupuje niekoľko menej známych miestnych básnikov (Radovan Brenkus a Pavol Hudák).
Summary: The author of the article considers the latest translations of Slovak literature in Poland in 2015. Among very well -known and valued Slovak authors whose translations have been published recently are contemporary and modern authors of the younger generation (Pavol Rankov, Peter Krištúfek, Maroš Krajňak, Jana Beňova) and the older generation (Pavel Vilikovský, Daniela Kapitaňová). Their books were very well received by Polish recipients and it occurs that Slovak literature in Poland is read with steadily growing interest. The article concerns Polish translations of Slovak poetry as well. The survey shows a decreasing number of translations of this kind of literature. In 2015 only three small anthologies of poetry were published. In this way, Slovak poetry was represented by a few local poets (Radovan Brenkus and Pavol Hudák).

Author Name: Monika Gawlak, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, monika.gawlak@us.edu.pl. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 167-179. Ključne besede: Slovenska literatura na Poljskem, Mikolovski inštitut, Pierre Bourdieu, simbolični kapital. Key words: peripheral cultures, dominant cultures, translations in 2014, translation choices, intercultural dialogue.
Summary: This article focuses on the dissemination of Slovenian literature in Polish by the Rafał Wojaczek Institute in Mikołów between 2012 and 2015. The author approaches the role of publishers in promoting literatures that are viewed from the Polish perspective as marginal using Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social fields. She points to the mechanisms and motivations of both the publisher and the translators, addresses issues related to graphic design, and examines the impact of paratextuality. The appreciation of non -mainstream literatures, including translations, stems from Bourdieu’s notion of illusio, a belief shared by the Institute’s staff and the team supporting the publishing process (i.e. translators) in the value of literature, translation and publishing, and their aesthetic and social impacts. The interest of the Mikołowski Institute in propagating fringe literatures, its attempts to transfer symbolic Slovenian capital into Polish and its relative autonomy in the publishing market are well worth noting.

Translated Title: Poljska književnost v slovenskih prevodih v letu 2015 / Przekłady literatury polskiej w Słowenii w 2015 roku. Author Name: Anna Muszyńska‑Vizintin, Uniwersytet Śląski, Instytut Filologii Słowiańskiej, melvien@poczta.fm. Language: Polish. Issue: 7 (2)/2016. Page Range: 187-198. Ključne besede: prevodi 2015, prevajalskih izbir, medkulturni dialog. Key words: translations in 2015, translation choices, intercultural dialogue.
Summary: In 2015, fifteen Polish books were translated into Slovenian, which is almost twice as much when compared to 2014. Prose has been dominant; Polish poetry was represented by two poets of different generations: Tadeusz Różewicz, whose two collections (Profesorjev nožek and Siva Zona) were translated by the experienced translator Jana Unug. Furthermore, Justyna Bargielska, a young Polish poetess, whose poetry selection entitled Serija manjših ran was prepared by Staša Pavlović. Interestingly, in 2015 Slovenes translated six books for children and young readers (Onichimowska, Maleszka, Żółtowska -Yvette) and two books on religious topics (Ewa Czaczkowska’s Sestra Faustina and John Paul II’s personal notes from 1962 to 2003). The varied selections, translators’ offerings and the growing number of Slovenian translations of Polish literature (which were mostly published by very prestigious companies such as Beletrina, Družina, Modrijan and Cankarjeva Založba) demonstrate that Slovenian readers are interested in Polish culture and interested in reading Polish books.
