Maciej Czerwiński – pracownik naukowy na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim w Krakowie. Zajmuje się semiotyką (kultury), analizą dyskursu (krytyczną wobec nurtów marksistowskich), retoryką. Habilitację uzyskał w 2013 roku na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim, doktorat w 2004, a magisterium w 2000 roku; był również Visiting Assistant in Research na Wydziale Historii Uniwersytetu Yale w 2003 roku. Jest autorem ponad 100 publikacji naukowych, między innymi 4 monografii, redaktorem dwóch tomów pokonferencyjnych i jednego reprintu, artykułów naukowych, esejów, krytyk literackich i publicystki. Obecnie pracuje nad chorwackimi i serbskimi narracjami w prozie wojennej.

Maciej Czerwiński – profesor filologije na Jagielonskom sveučilištu u Krakovu. Bavi se (kulturnom) semiotikom, istraživanjem diskursa (kritički prema marksističkim pristupima), retorikom. Habilitirao je 2013. godine na Jagielonskom sveučilištu, gdje je i doktoriraro (2004.) i magistrirao (2000.); bio je Visiting Assistant in Research na povijesti Sveučilišta Yale 2003. Autor je više od 100 publikacija, između ostalog četiri monografije, urednik dva zbornika, jednog povijesnog albuma, znanstvenih članaka, eseja, književnih kritika i publicistike. Trenutno se bavi hrvatskim i srpskim narativima u ratnoj prozi.

Maciej Czerwinski is Associate Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. His work is focused on (cultural) semiotics, discourse studies (critical to a Marxist orientation), and rhetoric. He habilitated in 2013 at Jagiellonian University, where he also received his Ph.D. (2004) and M.A. (2000); and he was a Visiting Assistant in Research in the History Department at Yale University in 2003. He is the author of over 100 publications, including four books, two co-edited books, one historical monograph and many articles as well as literary criticism and essays on Balkan affairs. Currently he is dealing with Croatian and Serbian narratives in prose fiction on war.

Sažetak: U članku se analizira roman hrvatskog (i bosansko-hercegovačkog) pisca Miljenka Jergovića Ruta Tannenbaum i njegov prijevod na poljski jezik (prevoditeljica: Magdalena Petryńska). Istražuje se na koji se način dijalogiziraju znakovi i kulturni kodovi u originalu i u prijevodu, te se pokazuje koje se aspekte semantike književnog djela i semantike kulture ne mogu adekvatno prisvojiti u poljskom jeziku i u poljskoj kulturi. Tako se i razmatra mogućnost primjene jednog semiotičkog i kulturno-semiotičkog pristupa u translatologiju.
Summary: In the article the novel Ruta Tannenbaum, written by Croatian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian author Miljenko Jergović, and the translation of the novel into Polish by Magdalena Petryńska is analyzed. By comparing the original and the translation the question of dialogization of signs and cultural codes is taken into consideration. It is presented which aspects of the semantics of the literary work and the culture itself cannot be adequately adapted into the Polish language and Polish culture. Simultaneously, the idea of applying a semiotic and cultural semiotic approach in translatology in analyzed.

Sažetak: U članku se analizira pitanje stereotipā koji se javljaju u originalnom tekstu Ive Andrića Na Drini ćuprija i u poljskom prijevodu Haline Kalite. Kako je svijet Andrićevog romana smješten u izuzetno hibridno, pogranično tlo, transfer smisla u okvir novog jezika, ovdje: poljskog, mora se realizirati u adaptaciji određenih kulturnih matrica i jezičnih jedinica. U istraživanju se pokušava obratiti pozornost na neprikladnost obaju imaginarija (bosanskohercegovačkog i poljskog) te na prividnu ekvivalenciju leksičkih jedinica, a također i na ulogu različitih čitateljā koji, imajući na raspolaganju vlastite kulturno determinirane predožbe/stereotipe, na drugačije načine pristupaju interpreatiji književnog djela.
Summary: In this article, the question of various stereotypes present in the original and Polish translation (translated by Halina Kalita) of Ivo Andric’s novel The Bridge on the Drina is taken into consideration. Since the universe of Andric’s book is located in the extraordinarily complex hybrid borderland of Bosnia, the very transfer of semantic sense into the new language, here: the Polish language must be realized within the adaptation of certain cultural matrixes and linguistic items. In this research article, several questions are analyzed: the lack of similarity between the Bosnian and Polish cultural universes, the apparent equivalence of linguistic items, and the role of various readers who — bearing their own cultural imaginations/ stereotypes — interpret the book in different ways.
